
Learn to swim or take your strokes to the next level this summer!
Guppies 1
Children will be in the water standing or wearing backpacks. Focus will be on comfort in the water and independent movements leading to gliding and floating without backpacks.
Goals for this class are:
• Enter the water willingly and/or independently
• Blow bubbles
• Put whole face in the water
• Skull with support or standing
• Kick with a kickboard or holding wall
• Supported front and back glides
• Supported back float
• Demonstrate comfort in the water
• Follow basic safety instruction in and around the pool

Guppies 2
Children who can demonstrate all skills in Guppy 1, especially entering water independently and putting their face in the water will be enrolled in Guppies 2. Students may wear backpacks. The focus of this class will be on beginning front crawl skills.
Goals for this class are:
• Step or jump into chest deep water
• Bob 5-10 times while holding the wall
• Retrieve an item from bottom in chest deep water
• Front glide
• Back float
• Supported front crawl arms and kicks
• Increased comfort and independence in the water
• Follow safety directions during the lesson

Goldfish
Children should be at least 6 years old and MUST be able to stand in 30 inches of water. This level focuses on floating, beginning front crawl, and treading. (This level does NOT use floatation devices).
Goals for this class are:
• Enter and exit water independently
• Blow bubbles
• Bob 10 times
• Retrieve an item from bottom in chest deep water
• Front & back glide, front and back float
• Front crawl for 5 body lengths
• Tread for 20 seconds
• Demonstrate comfort and confidence in shallow water
• Follow safety instructions in and around the pool

Pufferfish
Children should be at least 6 years old (but most will be 8-10 yrs old) and MUST be able to stand in 30 inches of water. Children must be able to do a combination of floating/swimming/treading in deep water for 15 seconds to be ready for this level. Pufferfish will work on perfecting their front crawl while also learning back stroke, butterfly, and breaststroke.
Goals for this class are:
• Float & tread for 60 seconds
• Swim front crawl 25 yards
• Swim elementary backstroke 25 yards
• Begin butterfly, breast and back strokes
• Enter and exit deep water independently and safely
• Demonstrate comfort and confidence swimming in deep water
• Follow safety instructions in and around the pool

Sharks
Sharks must be at least 6 years old (but most will be 11-12 yrs old) and MUST be able to stand in 30 inches of water. Prior to entering this level, children should be able to front crawl for 25 yards and elementary backstroke for 25 yards. This level will focus on stroke development and strength, competitive swimming techniques.
Goals for this class are:
• Competitive entry (shallow dive)
• 50 yards each: front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke
• Demonstrate safe behavior, awareness, and confidence in deep water
